Just a minute in October

Monday, October 26th, 2009

Reading I finished Alice in Wonderland (Lewis Carroll), and have also read Wicked Lovely (Melissa Marr) – I adored both of them very much. I’m still slowly working my way through Mansfield Park (Jane Austen), and I’m almost finished Sixty Lights (Gail Jones). Next on my to read list is The Twits (Roald Dahl), to be followed by Blue Bloods (Melissa de la Cruz).

Listening I seem to be listening to a lot of Regina Spektor and After Forever at the moment. Particularly in love with Regina’s “Two Birds” and “Laughing With”, and After Forever’s “Forever” and “Only Everything”. Of course I’m also listening to a lot of my two favourites, Nightwish (particularly “Over the Hills and Far Away” and “The Islander”) and Within Temptation (particularly “Angels” and “All I Need”).

Wanting A sewing machine. Need the space for it first, but that’s easy enough to organise. Hopefully I’ll have made the space for it by the end of today… but yes. I really want a sewing machine.

Making Aside from a mess – at the moment I’m not making much. I am however working very hard on my big visual diary with all my art. I’ve also been making compilation cds for my new car.

Loving Finding old photos and notebooks of mine from when I was a kid, as I go through sorting and tidying. I thought my photos these days were bad! I can safely assure you that I have improved dramatically ^-^ The nostalgia is nice though. The notebooks also have a lot of notes and messages from all my friends when we were younger. It’s really cute and sweet actually.

Promising To not spam you all as much as I did yesterday, ever again! I’m also still working on that organisational thing of mine… it’s taking a while.

Drinking Water, water and more water… and even more jasmine green tea. Still though, lots of water. Summer is on our doorstep now and I want to be able to cool off at the beach with my friends every now and then.

Feel free to join in and do this post, comment me if you do so I can come read yours.
Also you don’t have to strictly stick with these headings.

Also, as always, new (these ones are old actually, but they’re not already up there) photos up at Flickr.

Broken innocence
Music Monday
Laughing With – Regina Spektor

Sorry for so many entries today (there still may be one more yet – I’ll try and restrain myself and wait for tomorrow, but who knows if I’ll succeed), but I always forget to take part in Music Monday.

Thus a new week begins

So let’s start it on a happy and positive note with some pretty photos ♥ (click on photo to go to source)

I have envy right now for the photography skills of the above photographers.

Currently my site looks perhaps slightly dysfunctional, I am shifting things around with the layout again. It’s proving a challenge for me, but a good one. I’m not at all familiar with PHP and while I think I’m okay with CSS, I know there is still a lot I don’t know. Doing this by trial and error though, I have actually learned quite a bit – so that is definitely a good thing! As long as I continue learning, I will probably continue tweaking, but I just thought I had better explain why it’s looking a little shabby at the moment.

Also, a call out to anyone who would like to be on my blog roll – if you would like to be on my blog roll, please email me a link button with dimensions 120 x 70. Thanks in advance ^-^

Hope you all have a lovely Monday and a lovely week ♥

Infinite loop

I’ve just gotten back from my walk with mum, and I haven’t checked out my photos yet to see if they worked, I have however installed the LinkWithin plugin and put a clock on my sidebar! How exciting! Although, I have to say that the pluggin won’t be very exciting yet as this will be only the tenth entry on here.

I have many more photos to upload to flickr tonight, so keep an eye out on my account. I’m thinking I may watch Juno again tonight… although… I know it’s a bit of a trashy show, but I seem to have a hopeless addiction to Ladette to Lady which the second Aussie season starts tonight… decisions, decisions.

In bright light

I hope you’re all well and enjoying your Tuesday (or Monday, depending on where you live I guess). I’m going for a walk later today and I intend on taking lots of photos if I can. For now though, I’ve added 20 new photos this morning over at flickr.

The importance of friendship

A glimpse of the sun

You know how they say you never know what you have until it’s gone?

A few years ago now, I had something of a large falling out with one of my best friends. It broke my heart because I had never intended for things to get blown so far out of proportion, but I also became angry when things got dragged out far longer than they should have been. So much else then started happening, but it didn’t take long before I really missed him. Over the last year, we’ve been hanging out with the same crowd again. At first it felt like is was a bit of a struggle to be civil toward each other, but gradually we seemed to be more including and tolerant of the other and I realised I really did miss him a lot.

Things have been okay for a while now, but still felt a little strained. Finally though, I got to speak with him briefly about it yesterday, and I got a bit of the weight off my chest. I really have missed him – and I still count him as one of my closest friends. I’m glad I didn’t lose that forever.

I tore down everything over at flickr, I’m starting fresh. I also figure that a url with my name in it will probably suit my purpose more than anything else. Less restrictive, I guess?

I hope you’re all well xx

I do miss it,

Tuesday, October 6th, 2009

I miss being able to eat apples. I’m fructose intolerant, so my fruit intake is minimal, but apples make me really sick. It’s such a shame, because alongside strawberries and raspberries, they were my favourite fruit. Fruit reminds me of warmer weather, at the beach or by the pool, or even under the shade of a big eucalyptus tree by the side of a nearby creek. The sweet juice that bursts in your mouth when you take that first bite.

I miss that.
Even though I don’t like summer anymore.

Off for a walk in the rain with errands to run.

October’s featured artist,

Thursday, October 1st, 2009

I was hit with random inspiration yesterday, and I thought, why don’t I make a post at the beginning of each month recommending an artist who has work I adore? Then I could list them in my sidebar as a featured artist until the next month! So from now on that is exactly what I will be doing :)

To get things rolling, I would like to announce that it is young French artist, Annabelle, also known on deviant art as 4th-of-May, who is my first featured artist!

October 2009 | 4th of May (Annabelle)

I simply adore her illustrations, and use of colour and texture, it’s truly wonderful! I hope we continue to see more wonderful work from her ♥

Also, on a slightly different note, Amanda from Here Comes The Sun tweeted something the other night that some of you may or may not be interested in. It’s a list of 101 blogs you should check out. I’m going to take a closer peek at it later, but I thought it looked interesting :)
