Fields of butterflies, reality escapes her

I’ve been feeling so uninspired these last few days. I started working on fixing up a website and a decent layout for my blog, but I’ve ended up doing my head in with it. Also, I’ve realised just how out of hand I let things get during National Novel Writing Month – the house is a mess!

I might put on some good music and do some cleaning! Hopefully then I’ll be feeling a little more inspired later today, and I’ll have some shiny things to share! ♥

So where do you stand?

I was very excited today after work when I tried on two dresses I had put aside for myself while I was doing my shift – and they were a perfect fit! They are sample products by a little known brand (as far as I’m aware, anyway) – I’m picking them up tomorrow after my next shift, and they’re nice and cheap which made it all even better! Through my excitement though, a question formed in my mind that I wanted to ask you all. (more…)

Where do you find inspiration?

Where do you find inspiration?

Goodness me, I am full of questions today! My curiosity where this question is concerned though, is due to my own lack of fresh inspiration. There are vague images in the back of my mind, and I’m following my usual methods in hunting down inspiration – but it just seems out of reach, I can’t find that something that sparks that mystery image. Largely I think this is probably due to my current lack of sleep that I’ve been enduring, I’m hoping and praying for a good night of sleep tonight though.

So now an explanation is due

These hazy memories

So, I get the feeling some of you are scratching your heads right now and asking yourselves “Am I going insane, or did she just say that she was setting herself 200 goals?”. My friend Nick replied to my tweet about my new post with: “Goal 200: Stop spreading yourself too thin and focus on 2-3 things you absolutely love ;) ” so I now feel the need to explain the method in my madness. It’s not that much of a big deal really – but here is a little something about me you should probably know, in case you hadn’t already figured it out:

I’m lazy and lack direction.

200 Goals for 10 Years

Tuesday, December 8th, 2009

Somewhere out there, there is a meme for 100 goals in 3 years – some of my goals are so enormous though, that I decided to forget the tradition of the meme, and set my own list of ridiculous goals with a ridiculous timeline to fulfill them in. I hope you’ll all cheer for me, and remind me of this article by Ashley Lebedev about how to beat creative block when I get stuck and stumble.

As you may be able to tell, there are still plenty of goals for me to come up with – if you have any suggestions, please let me know. I figure though, that as the years roll by, I will probably have new ideas and goals that I will want to set myself anyway. To start with though, I do at least have over 100 goals – it’s a nice feeling. Achieving them will make me feel like I’m being productive!

I’ll strike them out as I achieve them starting from the 1st of January 2010, and I’ll add more as I think of them! ^-^

“Set Your Goals High Enough To Inspire You And Low Enough To Encourage You.” -Author Unknown

EDIT:
You know, I’ve had people tell me before that I’m crazy for always setting myself insane goals. Usually I just laugh. Never before today, have I ever had anyone tell me not to do it. I’ve in part explained in this post here, why it is that I do these things. I personally don’t feel that I should have to explain any further than that, but I’m still being discouraged. I know the person doesn’t mean ill by it, but it’s frustrating. There are still other reasons I do this, but a big one is that this is one of the things that helps me keep my depression and anxiety at bay: writing lists – organising my mind and what it is that I want in life. I’m someone who is timeless, so I need time frames for these lists. So this is just another one of my projects to keep my mind busy – discouraging it doesn’t help at all.

Sorry to have put this here, I hope my list makes you roll your eyes and laugh at my insanity.

Why, hello there summer

fields of gold

Today is the first day of summer. I know this would be music to the ears of most, but not me.

I associate Autumn with warm colours, warm days, and the occasional brisk wind. I associate Winter with trips to the snow, soft light in the dark tones of Melbourne, and curling up by the open fireplace with a good book. I associate Spring with sunshine, flowers and rain. I associate Summer with excessive heat, bushfires, and general discomfort.

When I think a little harder though, there are some angles to summer that I do like. I love watching the storms that come through in summer, there is something about them that is terrifyingly powerful, amazing and beautiful. Also, while I am not at all a fan of the beach, I enjoy the time I get to spend away with my friends on holiday – there is a sense of freedom, and adventure, that I don’t often allow myself to feel.

I like sunshine, really, I do – but the sun in summer is just offensive. Too much of a good thing.

So now I pose a question for you, that I am interested to hear your answers.
What do you associate each season with, and which season is your favourite?

I can never decide between Winter or Spring – because when I dig deeper beneath the surface of my associations with the two, there is just so much about them that I love.
