1.365 – Special Things Seen
So I’ve done as I said I would, and have started a new 365 project (and abandoned the previous one). This one won’t be ridiculously bad photos of yours truly – it will be of things that catch my eye and make me smile, or inspire me. I’m calling this project “Special Things Seen” which I took from a novel I finished reading at the beginning of the month: Sixty Lights by Gail Jones. She keeps a diary of things she sees or things that happen, that are special or worth noting. I hope you enjoy viewing the photos that will start appearing for this project ^-^ ♥

Reading Through the Looking Glass for the first time ever! Earlier in the month I finally finished Sixty Lights by Gail Jones, which was good. I also read Libba Bray’s A Great and Terrible Beauty – which I loved and can’t wait until I can get my hands on a copy of the next book in the series! I definitely recommend that book ♥
Listening to a lot of varied music at the moment. I have been listening to a lot of Lisa Mitchell and Kate Miller-Heidki though. The usuals as well, Nightwish, Within Temptation and Apocalyptica.
Wanting to get paid so badly! Then I’m thinking I may sponsor a blog, depending on how much money I can put aside. I’m also contemplating being brave and asking if anyone would like to sponsor my blog! Today I also decided that I’m going to abandon my 365 Project after all, and start a new one – one that doesn’t require ugly ol’ me in every single photo!
Making evil schemes for world domination! Are you afraid? Or contemplating asking me if you can join in?
Loving nostalgia and my friends – more than I can tell you ♥
Promising to never attempt to move my blog and url about AGAIN! I am here to stay – this url and wordpress – thank you very much! ^-^
Drinking lots of water and Jasmine tea (leaves, not bags! Win!), and for the first time ever, yesterday I tried some Darjeeling tea and I loved it!

I cannot put into words, how daunting the idea of updating my blog this week has been. I went away for a fabulous weekend with my church’s youth group and had a blast – but this week marked the first week of the school year here in Victoria, and it’s the first time in several years that I’ll be working full time. I had a short 7 week stint last year while one member of staff took leave, but outside of that, it has been a long time since I’ve had consistent, full time, ongoing work.
Of course this is actually exciting – as I desperately need money, and although it isn’t at all what I want to be doing, I do love my job. The real problem this week has been that I live an hours drive from work – but my car has been suspended. When I purchased it last October it came with a roadworthy, but the man I bought it from gave me the wrong roadworthy forms. Despite my asking him to take the forms into VicRoads for me (he lives about 3 hours drive away from me) he hasn’t and so now my car is suspended until all of that is sorted out. Which means I’m catching public transport and having to leave home at 5:30-6am to work at a school, and I’m really lucky if I’m home again 12 hours later! I know it’s just because I’m not accustomed to it, but I’ve been so exhausted as a result of this. I can’t wait until my car is back on the road again!
Work has been good though – the children don’t start back again until Monday, and so the last few days have been setting up our classrooms, as well as we had one really good Professional Development session (a young man with Autism came in and told us his journey, and it was really wonderful – despite all of his struggles, he eventually worked his way out of being on a modified program and he went on to do really well with his VCE and is now in his last year of Graphic Design at University!), and then yesterday we had a conference for all the special schools in the region I work in. I thought the conference was going to be professionals boring us to tears with their theories and philosophies about autism and what we need to do to work with them talking to us about autism, but as it turned out – it was about general health and well-being for the staff working in these schools! It was interesting to me to see that our school seemed to have the largest group of younger staff – it was quite nice actually. Of course though, I took an interest in the presentations that were offered to us (and was really … happy… to hear the speaker say that those of us working in the role that I am in, probably have the hardest job in our workplaces). I’ve been wanting to lose my excess weight for some time, but the task just seems far too daunting sometimes – he spoke to us about the importance of sleep and how it needs to be timed etc, exercise, and nutrition. Mental health was also spoken about quite a lot – and my friend and I thought his name for the spiral down to depression “the death spiral” was great. Don’t really know why, but it seemed amusing and awesome at the time. It was a very good presentation though and while I knew a lot of it already, I walked away from it and took something with me.
In creative news though, well, I haven’t done a great deal. I have some more sketches I need to scan in, and I have some HTML/CSS I need to work on for a friend today – I also need to upload all my 365 project photos, as I am still going with that – haven’t fallen behind in taking them ^-^ Other than that I’ve been a little busy.
I was wondering though, what is it that you guys would like to see more of in my blog? Obviously I will continue to post my own art and photography and anything else I feel like sharing – but are you lovelies interested also in seeing more about what inspires me – photography etc by other people? Let me know ^-^
I’ll do “Just a minute” either later today, or sometime tomorrow, so keep an eye out for it!

It’s been a little while since I’ve tinkered with my graphics tablet – but then again, it’s also been a little while since I’ve really drawn and scanned anything in to work with. What do you think? Any ideas or suggestions for how I could improve?

It was about this time last year that I rediscovered my love for taking photos, and became aware that blogging was something so much bigger than childish rants on LiveJournal. It happened when I decided one day, that I was going to spend some time looking through the LiveJournal community, Lace and Flora. Through that, I discovered the blog of Sara Paige, then called Simply Stardust. It was soon after, that I started stumbling over the likes of The Lost Princess, The Unicorn Diaries, Birdy and Me, Hannah and Landon, and Daydream Lily. I was inspired to start my own blog – initially for the purposes of selling things that I was making at the time (which I still haven’t done that). It quickly changed though, to become a place where I could post my art and photography.
After starting my own blog, I stumbled across many more that have helped inspire me on a daily basis, including (but certainly not limited to) The Drifter and the Gypsy, and Here Comes the Sun.
I’ve been faced with my usual problem since then though – I can’t stay still long enough, and my mind is forever changing. I’ve had a few changes of URL – and I’ve constantly cleaned out a lot of old posts that I felt were out of place. As you may note – my archives only go back as far as December ‘09.
It was however, about this time of year, that I started blogging. Hopefully I will start to settle down as more and more things start to fall into place, and I learn more. THANK YOU to all my followers who have loyally stuck by me, you’re all wonderful ♥ Let’s hope that by December this year, I have a year-long archive and am still at this location!

I never understood what my fascination with eyes was (still don’t), but they always seem to make an appearance in any sketch that I do. Eyes are very powerful – and I have always had a great deal of difficulty looking into the eyes of others. You can see so much there if you look, and sometimes it’s things that you don’t want to see. At the same time though, by looking into someone else’s eyes, you’re allowing them to see inside your mind too…
I might end this ramble for you all now…
Just wanted to make note of the fact that I seem to have an obsession with eyes.

010/365
Truly, I have no idea how I’m going to get to 365 photos of me without boring you all to tears – I need to get to the drawing board and perhaps come up with a few prompts or ideas (suggestions are welcome!) but that is a lot of photos of a very boring subject!
A friend was recently complaining that I never smile in photos, so I thought I’d try and take an okay one for their benefit – and anyone else who wishes I would smile more!
I was happy today though, as we’re still in a cold snap in the middle of Summer. It’s about to end though – this weekend the temperature is expected to be in the mid-high 30’s again (that’s celcius). I’m really looking forward to next Winter – I can’t wait! This year I’d like to go to the snow, it’s been years since I went!
Hope you’re all well ♥ xx

I got this charm bracelet with some Christmas money from my Grandfather. First charm on it (also with Christmas money), is a book that opens and has a worm inside. The second charm I bought because it reminded me of one of my best friends and I had already decided that I wanted to get charms to represent each of them. This friend of mine, once upon a time he had a bit of an obsession with cows – it was very cute (and I’m sure he’d hate me for saying that!)

My feet were worthy of being removed after the weekend.

Oh the joys of lacking motivation, a broken blog, and laziness. These are the reasons I hadn’t uploaded them yet – sorry!
